Is there only room for one Black leader at the table?

In this episode of BEP Live, Tony Tidbit and Chris P. Reed challenge the scarcity mindset that turns another Black professional’s promotion into evidence that fewer opportunities remain for everyone else.

Through real conversations and lived executive experience, they examine tokenism, corporate politics, workplace competition, leadership insecurity, loyalty, and the expectation that Black executives must compete for opportunities that are never treated as scarce for white leaders.

Tony and Chris also debate Queen Bee Syndrome, the “crabs in a barrel” metaphor, DEI rollbacks, representation versus allocation, and whether Black professionals can confront systemic barriers without letting those barriers undermine their confidence or relationships.

This is an honest conversation about competing without undermining one another, controlling your attitude and work ethic, and recognizing that someone else’s success is not your failure.
