Black women are praised for being strong, but that praise often becomes an excuse to place more work, responsibility, and emotional pressure on their shoulders.
Tony Tidbit and Chris P. Reed sit down with Ebonie Grover, founder of Love You Like a Sister, for an honest conversation about the invisible load Black women carry inside corporate America.
Ebonie examines the superwoman expectation, emotional taxation, workplace burnout, unequal standards, and why boundaries are frequently mistaken for anger or disengagement. She also explains why hard work is not enough to secure advancement, the difference between mentorship and sponsorship, and why Black women must build strategic relationships, document their accomplishments, and advocate for themselves.
The conversation challenges organizations to acknowledge workplace bias, conduct meaningful stay interviews, invest in culturally relevant leadership development, and create environments where Black women can lead authentically without sacrificing their wellbeing.
Black women should not have to earn leadership by breaking themselves. Sustainable leadership is not weakness. It is a strategy.
